This is our ninth year buying coffee from Jaime Burbano. We first came across his coffee at a coffee auction in San Agustin. Year after year, Jaime delivers quality coffees. He's become a yearly staple in our offerings. We always look forward to visiting with Jaime.
He continues to innovate and improve his farm and processes. He's equipped a motorcycle engine to a trolly to haul coffee cherries across the steep valley where the coffee hand harvested. Once the cherries are harvested, they are floated and sorted before resting in barrels before being pulped and washed clean to be dried.
The department of Huila, Colombia is home to some of the best coffee in the world. We purchase from many areas within Huila. San Agustin, Colombia is famous for growing coffee and happens to be be one of our favorite places in the world. The rugged roads lead us into beautiful valleys filled with high quality coffee. Most estates reach 1800masl, creating the perfect climate for coffee cultivation. The steep hillsides make the coffee harvest challenging, but the quality is worth the effort.
